Little Fort Catalyst Commercial shipping was a catalyst in allowing early Little Fort to grow into a city prior to the arrival of the Commercial Shipping railroad and roads that could be used in all seasons. Even before the harbor was constructed, ships were bringing in and taking out supplies and resources. The lake allowed the growing population to fulfill needs that could not be acquired locally.
