Page 1 of 4 Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect Reporting Procedure SUSPECTED ABUSE/NEGLECT REPORTING PROCEDURE Due to the nature of our programs, staff is often the first to discover or suspect abuse or neglect. Our programs and facilities provide ongoing contact with the public, enabling us to observe the effects of abuse or, after trust has been established, to be told directly from the individual being abused about the abuse. The Waukegan Park District is committed to providing a safe environment for all participants and has a zero-tolerance for any and all abuse and neglect. Observed or suspected abuse or neglect will be taken seriously and dealt with in accordance with this procedure and the state laws. Some examples of abuse or neglect include: if you see a caregiver hitting a child; if you see an injury on a person’s body that does not appear to have been caused by an accident; if a person tells you that another person has harmed him or her; or if a child or someone in the ca
