After a break of nearly two weeks, the Ohio State football
team returned to spring practice with a trio of sessions during the third week of March.
Perhaps not surprisingly considering an 11-day layoff, the
coaching staff was not thrilled with what it saw on the first
day back.
“I don’t think it was a great day,” OSU head coach Urban
Meyer said March 19.
“I don’t think it was awful, but it was
not a great day.
We’ll help them with the excuses – first day
back from spring break, first day in pads and we’re not in
great shape because we’re not expected to be in great shape
yet.
It just was not a top-five practice.
”
Meyer added that the so-so practice session was in contrast to the previous time the Buckeyes practiced, saying
that March 7 session was maybe the best of his tenure in
Columbus.
The most noteworthy personnel development involved
Jordan Hall, the senior who is transitioning from tailback to
H-back in the spread offense.
