Former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, sometimes referred to as MS Dhoni, is
recognized as one of the best cricket captains of all time. Dhoni, who was born in Ranchi,
Jharkhand, on July 7, 1981, made his international debut in December 2004 and has since gone
on to become one of the greatest cricketers in Indian history.
Before converting to cricket at the age of 16, Dhoni started out as a goalie for his school's football
squad. He began his playing career for Bihar in domestic cricket as a middle-order batsman and
wicketkeeper. 2004 saw Dhoni's breakthrough performance as he led India A over Pakistan A
with a century that sealed the victory.
