Saint-Pierre Church – End of the 12th century – Saint-Pierre Square The current Gothic-style building was built at the end of the 12th/beginning of the 13th century. It was the abbey church of the Abbey of Saint-Père, considered one of the wealthiest Abbeys in France in the Middle Ages. The first church was built in the 7th century, it was plundered and largely destroyed by Norman raids in 858 and 911. A Romanesque church replaced it but was in turn destroyed by fires in the 11th and 12th centuries, except the bell tower still visible today.
