The present report summarizes the content and main results of the Seminar ‘International Strategies in Metropolitan Areas’, celebrated on July 4th and 5th 2019 in Barcelona. The main conclusions of CIDOB’s study on the international strategies of 5 global cities (Durban, Medellin, Montreal, Seoul and Vienna) are presented, as well as a compilation of the main experiences about metropolitan international strategies of more than 30 experts who contributed to the sessions, in relation to three main axis: their economic dimension, the importance of human capital and the participation of territorial actors in order to strengthen them.
The publication strives to contribute to the improvement and strengthening of metropolises’ international strategies and therefore bring them closer to the benefits coherent, holistic and integrated strategies have to offer.
