Art skill/Medium: Observational Drawing Basic Instructions for class use: Each student will receive two pieces of grid paper and one blank paper. They will also be given or will get to choose a real-life object (a plant, rock, etc.) to place one piece of grid paper and put their blank piece overlapping the other grid paper. They will then carefully observe each square on the grid paper and copy what is in that square, one at a time. Once they have copied each square, then they can go back and outline/color in their drawing. Possible classroom applications (Sci/SS): 1. Students can use the study of plants to observe and draw a plant or part of a plant on the grid. 2. Students can study rocks/rock layers by placing a rock fragment on the grid paper and copy it onto their paper. 3. Students can put a picture of a historical object onto the grid paper and copy it onto their own paper. Artist’s Name: Georgia O’Keeffe Examples of artist’s work: 1. 1.
