The idea for the clock came from a Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem of the same name. One verse tells of “children coming home from school” who “look in at the open door,” as we do here. by Britt Aamodt SPILLVILLE, IOWA--The Bily brothers, Frank and Joseph, grew up on a farm outside Spillville, Iowa. The town was known for its Czech population and an 1893 visit by renowned Czech composer Antonin Dvorak. By the time the brothers died, however, Spillville was also known for their clocks.
