Perceptions of Interpersonal Synchrony in a Joint Painting Procedure Tal-Chen Rabinowitz & Naama Rachel Nissel-Miller A good interpersonal relationship between a child and a therapist is an important part of therapy, as is the relationship with the parents, who might influence the child. Interpersonal synchrony serves as a positive factor in social and emotional interactions. 61 parents to typically developing 9-11 years old children participated in the study. The parents watched two videos in which an experimenter and a girl painted together. In one of the videos, the experimenter synchronized her painting with the girl and in the second, the experimenter did not synchronize her painting with the girl. The study examined whether synchronization in co-painting between an experimenter and a girl would influence the parent’s perception of the relationship between the experimenter and the girl, when compared to an asynchronous co-painting, and whether the parent's opinion of the experimen
