Change to school day – your questions answered Why are you changing the length of the lunchtime? Pupils said the hour was too long and was ‘boring’. This led to some problems over lunchtime (litter, damage and fall outs) which sometimes led to disruption in classes. Parents did not like the fact that in the winter we sometimes had a 1 hour lunch but sometimes reduced this to 45 minutes. This proposal means we have a standard lunchtime and finish time throughout the year. What are the changes? We are reducing lunch from one hour to 50 minutes (see table below): Lunchtime End of school day Current 12.30 – 1.30 3.15 Proposed 12.30 – 1.20 3.05 When does it start? Monday 15th April when we return from the Easter break Will it be reviewed? We will do a survey before summer to see how it is going and to make any improvements and adjustments Will this mean there are fewer lunchtime activities? We hope not but we are looking into ensuring pupils with activities have a way of getting
