Representation of Race in a Music Video: Show Me – Kid Ink (Ft. Chris Brown) The visual for ‘Show Me by Kid Ink featuring Chris Brown’ begins with 3 young black males smoking in a living room, discussing the organisation of a party before the music actually begins. This forms the narrative of the song whilst also reinforcing the stereotype that the majority of young black individuals smoke and are only motivated by things such as parties and pursuing girls. The cinematography of the music video subtly subverts the common ideology that black people are socially lower than other demographics, such as white men and women.
