On this date, which signifies the anniversary of the funeral of Pocahontas, Gloucester County, Virginia was honored to be a part of “A Day of Honor for Pocahontas and a Celebration of the Virginia Indi- an Tribes” at Mantle on Virginia Capitol Grounds in Richmond. Keynote speaker, Chief Anne Richardson of the Rappahannock tribe, provided a historical overview of the life of Pocahontas, the challenges she faced and the impact of her actions on both England and the United States.
