An extensive collection of old prints and drawings, many in colour, comprising a tour of the city and university as it was before the architectural additions of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries transformed the appearance of the townscape. The illustrations are accompanied by a timeline of the city’s most important buildings, an introduction to the main sources of the prints and brief historical notes on each of the colleges. The author was a student at Brasenose College where he studied Ancient and Modern History. Volume 4 covers Exeter College through St Giles' to Worcester College.
