The images selected cover over a thousand years of western art as well as work from other cultures, chosen for their significance, their beauty or their technical skill. Paintings by many of the greatest Old Masters are included as well as those by unknown modern artists – each presenting their own unique interpretation of episodes such as Adam and Eve, the Flood, the Tower of Babel, the sacrifice of Isaac, Jacob’s Ladder and Joseph’s sale into slavery in Egypt. The images are a feast for the eyes and the soul. The compiler studied History at Oxford and Theology at Exeter and Lampeter Universities and holds a number of degrees in the subject.
