Aidan McMahon American Revolution Ye Ol Scrapbook 1775-1889 The Battle of Lexington and Concord On April 19, 1775 the first physical contact between American colonists and British troops. The British marched from Boston which caused Paul Revere to being yelling the famous quote “The British are coming.” On that morning thousands of British men waked to Lexington and Concord to seize the arms cache. The first shot was most likely from the British because the colonists would not back down and let the soldier through. Who ever shot first started the battle and kicking off the Revolutionary War. At Lexington and Concord forty-nine colonists were killed and seventy-three British soldiers. Having lost more soldiers, the British surrendered and lost the fight.
