Delaware County Communities ImproveWalkability,Bikeability By Ron Galley WALTON - In February, Mark Fenton, an active transportation speaker for Complete Streets, met with village and town officials in Walton to advocate for the Complete Streets programs and resulting benefits for communities who implement it. The Complete Streets program is designed to provide safer, more convenient and comfortable travel for pedestrians, bikers and motorists. The plan also is designed to improve health as well as the economy and the environment. Fenton’s focus was to install clearly-marked walking areas, which include raised sidewalks and walking trails. Delaware County Public Health spokesperson Heather Warner said her department is involved in the planning and facilitating process because of the impacts to public health.
