1 MEETING AFRICA AT KARIBU Back in Spain after 10 years in Mexico, I got involved at Karibu in training African women. I had the joy of speak- ing Lingala with the coordinator of the center, a young Congolese woman from Kinshasa where I had spent part of my missionary life. Among these migrant women I feel back into the African atmosphere. In late September, when children begin the school year, mothers can take time to form themselves, so many fol- low the courses at Karibu Centre. I am on the morning shift of the literacy and Spanish courses. To welcome new students each year is interesting but also very de- manding! Coming from several African countries their levels are very different. Some of them have never been to school, others only speak their mother tongue and Arabic, French or English... but we manage to communi- cate and create an atmosphere where each one feels welcomed and may advance at her own pace.
