A CALL FOR SOLIDARITY: MISSIONARY PROJECTS TO SUPPORT PROJECT 51 Sewing machines for unemployed young people in the Karama Parish. PROJECT LOCATION: Karama, Rwanda ENTITY: Saint Francis of Assisi Province in Africa, Madagascar and Mauritius PERSON IN CHARGE: Friar Jean Éric Mutabazi, OFM PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Karama Parish on the outskirts of Kigali, Rwanda has many poor families. Most of these families are unable to pay their children’s school fees. They prefer that they learn a trade. The parish wants to train young people to keep them away from unemployment, delinquency and drug use. Thus, the friars need to acquire all the necessary tools (sewing machines, scissors, pieces of fabric, needles, etc.). Furthermore, this training gives a glimpse to young people that they can earn a living.
