The Villechétif peat bog One of the last alkaline peat bogs of the Aube department is located in Villechétif (towards Bouranton). This is a remarkable site, not just thanks to its impressive 236 plant species, but also for its wildlife – the area is home to various species of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. This peat bog, classified as part of the Natura 2000 network and covered by a Biotope Order, acts as a 'natural treatment plant' thanks to the quality of its water. The sale of peat from the bog was a major source of income until 1880.
