Rikhel Trivedi Media Studies Foundation Portfolio G321: Preliminary Task Preliminary exercise: Continuity task The continuity task involves filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of line of dialogue. The task should demonstrate: • Match on action • Shot reverse shot • The 180-degree rule • Dialogue editing • Various angles and shots What was successful about the task? Match on action is demonstrated throughout the entire preliminary as we always have at least two shots that match the previous shots actions. The 180-degre rule remained unbroken throughout the preliminary which shows that we have a clear understanding of the 180-degree rule. Shot reverse shot was also seen as we captured the conversation between the 1st and 2nd characters successfully. What was unsuccessful about the task?
