William Butler Yeats (1865 – 1939) ‘Her Anxiety’ Torres Barriga Mª Trinidad 2º Grado en Estudios Ingleses 1. Introduction This essay is aimed at explaining the meaning of this poem, by analysing the most important ideas and the most characteristic features. ‘Her anxiety’ is a W. B. Yeats’ poem. It was created at the beginning of 20th Century. The poem is about the idea that love dies after a period of time. In some sense the author is expressing his point of view about love although this idea could not be right. Apart from expressing his idea of love, he asserts it with a strong statement ‘Prove that I lie’. This statement can be understood in two different ways because there is a word which could be a ‘pun’, but we will see this idea later. 2. Analysis of the poem First of all, the structure of the poem consists of two sestets. Every line is written in iambic trimeter.
