‘Year 11 Prom celebrates
over thirty five years
of tradition at Francis
Combe Academy’.
Nothing has changed other than
the title from ‘The Leavers’ to ‘The
Prom’ to celebrate over thirty five
years of tradition at Francis Combe
Academy. Students arriving in the
most elegant of style: Limos, a fleet
of motor bikes, vintage cars and a
horse and cart but no one could
have been prepared for the most
dramatic arrival of all times by
students Milly Gibson and George
Whiteman. To an audience of
over 200 staff and students Milly
and George descended on the
Academy fields in a helicopter with
the sun setting in the background.
The event is an old tradition of
having the hall transformed into a
theme by the Academy staff. This
year it was ‘The Oscars’. A lavish
buffet fit to feed kings, red carpet,
balloons and tables set to serve
a wedding feast, no cost spared
to make the students and staff
feel as if they really were at the
