Matt Groening is the man who invented the world's most popular
cartoon. People in almost 100 countries watch the Simpson every
day. In 1986 Matt invented the Simpson family for the
popular Tracey Ullman Show. He gave them the names of his
family: Matt's father's name is Homer, his mother is Margaret and
he has two sisters named Lisa and Maggie.
The short Simpsons cartoons were very popular and in 1889 Fox
studios paid twenty million dollars for Groening to produce
thirteen thirty minute programs. After the first show at Christmas
1989, The Simpsons have made two billion dollars just for Simpson
tee - shirts, toys and other merchandise!
Groening and his artists, musicians and actors have made twelve
series of programs up to now. People of all ages, from seven to
seventy all love it !
