How to Install a CCTV Dome Camera
Installing a CCTV dome camera is a much simpler process than that required for other
types of security cameras. Unlike pinhole or hidden surveillance cameras, dome security
cameras are designed to be mounted directly onto an existing surface and should not
require much, if any, modification to set up.
When you purchase dome security cameras, they typically come with an Allen wrench,
sometimes called a key. This “key” allows the do-it-yourself installer to unbolt the
circular piece around the base of the camera. Once that piece is removed from the CCTV
dome camera, you need only a screwdriver to install the camera. It needs to go on a flat
clean surface, preferably mounted onto a wall stud for stability. If the beam where you
want to put the camera is too difficult to do by hand, you may want use an electric
screwdriver to pre-drill a hole. These simple tools are all that’s needed to install a domed
security camera.
