On 22 November, SICPA’s Government
Security Solutions Division announced
its acquisition of the research and
development department of Olivetti IJet, part of Olivetti SpA, based in Italy.
The department is devoted to
technological activities in the
field of thermal inkjets with key
competencies in digital marking, image,
print processing, microelectronics,
microelectromechanical systems
(MEMS) and microfluidics.
The transaction will combine
SICPA’s expertise in security inks and
track and trace solutions, with Olivetti
I-Jet’s long-standing experience in
digital printing.
Digital marking is part of SICPA’s
security solutions portfolio.
Applications typically include highly
secured tax stamps for tax collection
enhancement, secured identification,
traceability and authentication
solutions.
The R&D activity and related
personnel will remain in the present
premises in Arnad, Val d’Aosta, Italy.
