Portfolio Reflection
By creating a digital online version, professionals and students make their portfolios
accessible to users throughout the world. Knowing that more than just a teacher or a few
potential employers will be viewing the portfolio, students and professionals will be motivated to
create high quality work, both in the design of the actual portfolio and in the artifacts the
portfolio contains. Also, because Web 2.0 tools offer a wide spectrum of creativity, designers can
create a portfolio that mirrors their personality and purpose, making both the portfolio and the
experience creating it more personal and meaningful. The most important benefit to creating an
online portfolio, however, is taking artifacts, often created for a particular class or moment in
time, and giving them a purpose beyond that one moment. In fact, a well-done portfolio groups a
whole body of work into a common theme, giving unity to the work and creating a testament to
both progress
