The Palatine School was ordered to build by Charlemagne
(Carolingian emperor) in 780 and it was build in his palace in
Aachen (Germany, near the borders of Belgium and the Low
Countries). The only part of
Charlemagne's palace that is
conservate is the Palatine Chapel. It
has an octagonal base, is decorated
with arches with keystones (pieces
that come together and form the
arch) with diferents colors.
PALATINE CHAPEL
Charlemagne wanted to divulged the culture throughout his
empire and these is the reason why he created this school. In
PALATINE SCHOOL this school taught all kinds of subjects
like art, literature,
science and the
knowledge of the
antiquity. The culture of
the empire was stronger
and this cause the
construction of more
carolingian schools. This
period of learning was
called Carolingian
Renaissance.
