Vol. 41, No. 12 MAR. 20 - APR. 2, 2023 Connecting Communities S COMMUNITY RESOURCE UNIT BY OFFICER DAVID TOLEDO ince the start of the Commu- nity Resource Unit in Septem- ber of 2022, Officers Toledo and Carulo have identified and documented over 80 different homeless in- dividuals in our city. We have also made strides in assisting the homeless population towards obtaining housing and benefits through our resources to better assist them in becoming self- sufficient. To date we have placed approximately 10 individuals in shelters and regularly follow up on their progress. We have personally toured several of the largest shelters in Miami-Dade County, Camillus House, Lotus House and Chap- man Properties. Through this we have been able to create awareness of the resources and services they can provide to the home- less community.
