ROTC program granted reprieve
ETSU’s ROTC program has received a second
chance.
Last month, the U.S. Army announced that the program would be closing, leaving the future uncertain for
some participants in the program.
The program was one of 13 programs across the nation slated to be closed by August 2015. Nearly one
month after the Army made the decision to close the
university’s program, the Army granted a two-year reprieve to all 13 programs.
During the two-year reprieve, the programs will be
on a two-year probation.
“This will allow the army to do a couple different
things,” LTC Dan Bishop said. “The criteria that they
will use to assess all of the programs will probably be
redefined to ensure that the university has a clear understanding of the Army’s expectations.”
