Schools all across the western world
have some form of sexual education
classes.
These classes assist in teaching children how the male and female
bodies come together and create an
offspring.
The process of birth is discussed along with various aspects of
birth control, disease prevention and
sex related hygiene.
This curriculum is indeed beneficial
but what needs to be discussed at
home could be of far greater significance.
Boys must be taught to treat
young women with dignity and to
treat relationships unselfishly with a
focus on more than satisfying their
own needs.
They need to be taught to
be attentive in relationships to the
needs of their partners, both emotionally and physically.
There is also the issue of morality and
the dangers of promiscuity in terms of
the impact on a person’s self-esteem
and physical health.
Can this be accomplished in the classroom? Should
it be?
