Childcare provision for under-threes in the Glenkens has been resucitated - for now - through a variety of very welcome support ranging from grants to fundraising activities. The figure which is allowing the groups to continue, hopefully until Easter, includes £5,000 from WestSound’s Cash for Kids and £1,700 from local business Natural Power Consultants Ltd, as well as grants from the Glenkens Community Shop and funds raised by St Margaret’s Ladies’ Guild and the FoDSFEST Tea Tent. The group is very grateful for all the help and support it has received, and would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all involved. If the Playgroup is forced to close, families in the north of the Glenkens would face round-trip journeys of over 50 miles to the nearest provision in the Stewartry, as well as the future of the Glenkens Community Centre being at risk with the GCC and playgroup as its biggest users.
