New Galloway will take centre stage in September when it hosts a weekend of events celebrating the Day of the Region (DoR). There will be a diverse programme of free events ranging from fishing to singing, golf to photography and cooking to wildlife-watching, demonstrating the wealth of activities people enjoy accross the wider area. The Day of the Region is a Europe-wide initiative to encourage grass-roots rural community activity and cooperation, and capture the wonderful array of activities that go on throughout the year. Four years ago Dumfries & Galloway was the first region in the UK to take part, and New Galloway is one of eight communities in the region which have been accepted for this year’s celebration which runs from 19-21 Sep
