In dollars and cents how much do you think a human life is worth?
Think about it.
Is it worth ten thousand dollars? Maybe a hundred grand?
Perhaps a million dollars will do.
When medical care is provided mainly for
profit that is what in fact happens.
A dollar sign is put in front of human lives.
If a doctor or a hospital tells you that you cannot get the medications
or the lifesaving surgery you need because you do not have enough money
they have just given you the price of your life.
Your life is worth whatever the drugs or the operation you require cost.
If you do not pay up you will not be treated.
That is the core ethical issue in
the medicine for profit model that controls American health care.
The USA has the best hospitals, doctors and medical treatments
money can buy.
The problem is that many Americans, nearly 50.
