It is a great pleasure to be interviewing the
last queen of Egypt.
Cleopatra: The pleasure is all mine.
Oprah: It is said that you are very popular among your own people, how do you feel about that?
Cleopatra: I feel very honored.
I love Egypt so much, so it’s great to know that they love me
back.
Oprah: You are the only one out of all of your relatives to know the Egyptian language.
Why did
you choose to learn it?
Cleopatra: I wanted to be able to connect with my constituents.
Oprah: So how many languages do you know and what are they?
Cleopatra: I speak 9 languages including the Egyptian language.
I am fluent in the languages of
the Medes, Parthians, Jews, Arabs, Syrians, Trogodytae, and Ethiopians.
Also my native
language is Greek.
Oprah: Very impressive.
Why did you have portraits of yourself made in the traditional Egyptian
style?
Cleopatra: I wanted to be part of their culture.
