Wildflowers of Morningside Nature Center
Morningside Nature Center is one of the last remaining examples of fire-dependent longleaf pine woodlands in North Central Florida. Over six miles of trails wind through 278 acres of Sandhill, Flatwoods, Cypress Swamps and other wetlands. Within these fire-dependent natural communities the prescribed burn program promotes spectacular wildflower displays that have attracted visitors for many years. We hope this checklist, including 282 species of wildflowers, selected flowering grasses and woody plants, helps you discover the wildflowers of Morningside Nature Center!
Plants are grouped by flower color and listed alphabetically by family. Scientific and generally accepted common names as well as bloom seasons are also included.
