oRT WoRTh—lauren Sullivan has taken a unique route
to her pro golf career.
Growing up in Wichita Falls in a family full of doctors
of different types, the medical was in her DNa. It always seemed it
was her destiny to follow in the family footsteps.
She learned golf at an early age under the tutelage of legendary
Texas amateur Rufus King, her next door neighbor, and she
excelled in high school and on the state and national junior circuits.
at the same time, she would wake up early to join her father on his
rounds at the hospital. as she got older, she had the opportunity to
shadow him and other doctors while in surgery.
So when she took just three years to graduate from high school
in 2006, she turned down scholarship offers and put her clubs away
to begin fulfilling her destiny of becoming a maxillofacial oral surgeon. She enrolled at TCU and fell in love with her biology classes,
which fueled her fascination with the intricacies and complexities
of the human body.
