I was always
fascinated with every conversation—
how he described his profession and his
art.
I enjoyed the courses he produced.
I always regarded him as my personal
“Most Interesting Man in the World.
”
egendary architect Robert von
Hagge, who designed more than
250 courses around the world
and 18 in Texas, died unexpectedly on
Oct.
16 from complications from a
head injury.
He was 83.
Very few people have left a more
indelible, beautiful impression on the
Texas or world landscape than von
Hagge.
Having grown up on a golf course as
the son of a club manager and superintendent, von Hagge spent most of his
life designing and building golf courses
for the enjoyment of others.
