Numerous families across Hempfield Township have been experiencing the nightmare of a home invasion. A rash of robberies has been occurring in upper-middle class neighborhoods over the past year. These violations range from breaking into cars to entering into the homes, sometimes while the homeowners are asleep. According to the Tribune Review, police are arresting thieves who use garage door openers found in cars they break into, to gain access to the house. At that point, the criminals steal phones, purses, laptops, or other valuables. “That’s one of the things, as a police department, that’s so alarming- that someone is willing to go into someone’s house while they’re there,” said Trooper Steve Limani in the Trib. Junior Madisyn Kush agreed, “My friend’s dad changed all of the key pad locks on their house and garage.” Police are urging people to lock all doors on their homes and vehicles.
