After graduating from the Geneva Watchmaking School, he trained with master-watchmaker Roger Dubuis and then opened his first antique timepiece restoration workshop in the family home. The young watchmaker had a date with destiny at the 1987 Basel Watch Fair: impressed by a quarter repeating movement with jacks of Claret’s own making, the new owner of the Ulysse Nardin brand, Rolf Schnyder, ordered twenty minute repeater calibers with San Marco jacks. That same year, Christophe Claret founded the Manufacture Claret, which soon became an international reference in the field of Grand Complication calibers. Working behind the scenes for the most prestigious brands, he also created special models commissioned by collectors and bearing his own signature.
