The 60-ton concrete Bust of Sylvette has stood in the courtyard of Silver Towers since1967.Norwegianartist Carl Nesjär created the 36-foot-high sandblast sculpture in collaboration with Pablo Picasso, based off his 1934 series of smaller busts of Sylvette David. The artistsselectedandenlarged one of those statues, which were made of folded sheet metal. The folding effect is what gives this sculp ture its unique angles. Designated a New York City landmark, the immense figure is one of only two public outdoor Picasso sculptures in the entireWesternHemisphere. Photo © Sy Abudu
