Rocky Mount is located in Nash and Edgecombe counties, about an hour northeast of Raleigh. The city is lucky to have both North Carolina Wesleyan College and Edgecombe Community College, offering a range of degree programs. Rocky Mount also has a growing arts community. The city operates an arts center, a children’s museum and science center, and a theater at the Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences. There’s a good mix of both small businesses and larger corporations here. The first Hardee’s was in Rocky Mount, ironically on McDonald Street.
