As a young fish the Arulius barb is very attractively coloured, the barb has a silvery green sheen on
its body.
Three very dark bars cross the body vertically.
One starts level with the dorsal fin, another
across the rear of the caudal peduncle and the last in between the two other s occassionally you do
get smaller patches across the flanks or on the top of the body.
Anal fins and the caudal fins are a reddish brown colour, with a nice red border.
A green sheen
covers the operculum.
