I.
PURPOSE
To document the Company’s policy on “competent person” requirements related to the
work performed by employees on large construction sites and special projects.
II.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all work performed by ColonialWebb Contractors’ employees.
III.
PROCEDURE
It is very important for employees and supervisors to understand the responsibilities of
being designated as a competent person.
A competent person is one who is capable of
identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions
which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has
authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.
The competent person in most all cases must be on site to make evaluations and in
some conditions, must remain at the work activity for the duration of the work.
