The proposed $50-million multi-use
recreational complex (MURC) is not
dead, said enthusiasts and Mayor John
Rodriguez this week.
Paul Thususka, a local businessman
and chair of a citizens group supporting
the MURC project, said there will now
be a grassroots campaign to get the community behind the project.
“I think there was a lot of confusion about actual costs and where the
site was to be located.
We are willing
to clarify these misunderstandings.
We
are now prepared to go the community
for their support,” he said.
His group is
called MURC on the Rock.
This week, Thususka and members
of a private citizen group will be meeting with the mayor to discuss their
strategy.
