Awomansitshuddledinacorner
of a restaurant, her hands wrapped
around a steaming cup of coffee.
Her presence is largely ignored by
the other patrons of the restaurant,
aside from a few pitying glances.
However, something about her
caught my eye, but I continued
walking.
As the doors opened, a
burst of freezing cold air assaulted
me, and my heart sank, because
I realized that she had to sleep
outside tonight.
The next morning I woke up to
the news article about a homeless
man who had died from exposure
to the cold.
It was at that moment
that I finally decided to stop
ignoring what, for months, the
Lord had been directing me to do.
I had to do something to reach
out and help the less fortunate
in my community.
This was the
