Be Careful
What You SaY
By Beverly Hill McKinney
There is a children’s song that says: “Oh be careful little mouth what you
say, Oh be careful little mouth what you say, there’s a Father up above
and He’s looking down in love, so be careful little mouth what you say.”
James tells us we must be careful
how we use our tongues. He states
that the tongue is just a small
member of the body, but reminds us
how much good
or damage it can
do by simply a
spoken word. He
says it only takes
one small spark
to start a huge
consuming fire.
In Oregon we
areawareofwhat
a small spark can
do to a forest. By
a careless camper or a strike from
a lightning storm, a great fire can
consume thousands of acres and
damage hundreds of homes. If not
controlled, it will consume everything in its path.
Speaking without thinking about
what we say can cause irreparable
harm to someone. An idle word
spoken out of context can cause
dangerous rumors to start. We laugh
at the old game
