Essay 2: Recognition and Analysis of One’s Own Competence s “I learnt, however, how small I am and how much I have to learn about pedagogical things and building houses. I suppose I 2ill never be fully competent, but by practicing I will perhaps move forward.”(Female engineer) Säde-Pirkko Nissilä I introduced my writing with this quotation because I´m identifying with it. I am an English and Spanish teacher since 1994, I´m 53 years old, I´m married and I have two sons. Cesar is 14 and Carlos is 12 they are students. My wife Maria is a librarian she works for a local University here in Tuluá, a City by the south west of Colombia. I started my teaching life when I was 33, I never thought that I was going to be a teacher, I taught when I was younger, but I did it just to help other students.
