What a relief ! The Synod ended last evening with all the paragraphs of the final text having obtained two-thirds majority. It is once again the tangible work of the Holy Spirit who always accompanies the Church and creates unity in the most diverse situations. Let me start where I left last week. On Monday all day and Tuesday morning, we worked in groups on the Third Part of the Working Document. It was rough sailing, as we felt the two tendencies, those who wanted to keep to the previous Church documents on the subject, documents published at least 35 years ago, while others were asking why we were in a Synod now if we did not want any change. Why did some seem to want to tie the hands of our Holy Father Francis. It is always a challenge to leave the known tracks. In my group, we realized that we would never be able to examine the whole of Part 3 as it is very long and deals with a number of varied situations.
