A God-Given U-Turn By Jon Drury AsayoungmanIhadmylifeplanned; God didn’t figure into the picture. A relative discovered windfall profits in real estate, and I knew I could follow his path. I had managed two small businesses, and learned much about running a franchise. Since I reasoned there was nothing money couldn’t buy, life would be ideal. But increasingly, peace of mind eluded me. My inward emptiness grew. Then God met me. He brought me to tears of repentance. His cleansing wave washed over me and began to remold every part of my existence. I felt clean, forgiven, released to new life. The pattern for this U-turn in human direction is a biblical truth found exten- sively in the Scriptures. The Savior said: “Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:15 In His story about the prodigal son He showed this change of direction when the lad returned to his father and said: “I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” Luke 15:17-19 Repentance
