Mary Joyce Carraca (Pandacan) and Christian Dayo (Paco), ATD youth facilitators,
took part in a 2 months training with the ATD team in March.
Mary Joyce:
"It was the first time I joined the basic literacy program. It is different to the Festival
of Learning because other things are taught. The literacy program is for the children
who stopped going to school, never went or go to school but are delayed. I will not
forget K. because he was the first child I taught: he is smart, easy to teach, doesn't
disturb. I can also sharpen their intelligence."
Christian:
"One time we accompanied Ate Vanessa to a forum in Intramuros (CBCP-Nassa
network for families and children living in the streets). There were also present staff
from other NGOs, like Bahay Tuluyan, Child Hope and others also included Bishop
Pabillo. We discussed about street children: if they are more numerous since
